Civility

The Civility is designed for players who want to learn tricks without limits. We started with a competition style design, and as we went through various prototypes we decided to put a little extra weight around the rims of the yoyo to increase sleep time and stability. This has made the Civility more forgiving during off-axis play, and more stable when practicing those complicated string tricks you have not quite mastered. In addition, the Civility has a bead-blasted finish which is great for learning all kinds of grinds.

The newest version of the Civility now features a redesigned bowl that has the same great fingerspin area as the Summer Solstice and Winter Solstice yoyos as well some changes to the weight distribution and size. The redesign work was done by Mark Diehr from MK1 Yoyos. With the latest run, manufacturing the Civility Yoyo has been moved over to FPM, one of the best machine shops in the yoyo industry, well known for some of the highest quality and most stable yoyos on the market and the masterminds behind the popular brand yoyofriends.

The Civility also comes with a VIP Ultimate yoyo bearing which further accentuates the yoyo’s strengths. While any high-end metal yoyo will be great for learning tricks, we wanted to give the Civility everything we could to help make learning as easy as possible.

On January 7, 2013, YoTricks.com approached the Kickstarter community in hopes of raising a modest sum to create a yoyo specifically designed to help fans of YoTricks.com learn the most advanced tricks. Named the Civility Yoyo, we asked for $3,500 to make a small run of the yoyo we had spent the past year designing and perfecting. By February 10 the Civility Yoyo project had raised nearly $23,000, more than 6 times the original goal! Because of the generosity of the Kickstarter community and the fans of YoTricks.com we were able to do an additional prototype to further refine the design.

The Civility weighs just over 66 grams, balanced over the entire design with a little extra weight focused in the rim of the yoyo. This allows the Civility to play fast for its weight with a high level of control. Its 56mm diameter and 45mm width are in the sweet spot for high-end metal yoyos, and its shape feels great to hold and throw. We have already made several advanced yoyo trick videos with the Civility, and we will continue to push the limits of yoyo tricks to new heights as we move forward.
