With Concave and Grooved bearings now being the standard for high performance yo-yo play, Dif-E-Yo took it one step further and improved their original KonKave bearing by making a ceramic version.
Whilst most regular bearings are made entirely from Stainless Steel, Ceramic bearings are made from Ceramic Silicone Nitride. Rolling resistance is the key trump card promoted by ceramic bearing fans. Because ceramic bearings are rounder with a smoother surface and more uniform size, friction is reduced and that can contribute to a less energy required to match the spin speed or RPMs of a standard steel bearing.
A ceramic bearing is also harder than steel bearings (up to 30%), which improves durability, and they also don’t rust so less maintenance should be required.
These types of bearings offer the highest level of performance and play - hence the higher price tag. However many players will agree - the extra expense is worth it if you want to get the absolute most out of your yo-yo.
